Defective Xbox 360 Game Cases?

Ok,so I have been having a bit of a problem with my Xbox 360 games breaking I have had 4 of them break so far these four games would be
Left 4 Dead,Halo 3, and Gears of War 2.

1 by 1 they all fell and I looked up broken Xbox 360 games on Google and a forum topic came up talking about the Xbox 360 Game Cases being defective,I thought it was that because if it was my Xbox 360 all my games would have broke by now and I had GTA IV for a year and Halo 3 for 3 months and Halo 3 broke first and I still have GTA IV to this day.

I have been wondering is it my Xbox 360 doing this because at the time my games started breaking I used to play my Xbox 360 in a Vertical position now its horizontal and ever since I bought a CD Holder for my games which was 4-5 months ago not one has broke yet after Gears of War 2 broke.

So is it my Xbox 360 in the vertical position causing it or could it be the cases for the games?
